If you are anything like me, you take your time seriously. You have a lot going on. You may have kids, work, goals, and lots of ambition, so you don’t have hours to spend on meal planning and cooking.
In my previous article, How Busy Women Do Meal Planning Without Paying Hundreds More on Groceries or Sacrificing Nutrition, I talked about how busy women meal plan and I briefly mentioned freezer cooking. This article takes meal planning to another level with freezer cooking.
If you’re not familiar with freezer cooking, as a busy woman trying to balance several plates, you should know about freezer cooking!
For me as a Work-at-Home mom of two who runs her own business, is in her master’s program, homeschools, and manages a home–planning meals and cooking them is something I don’t have a lot of time to do. Typically, I wake up, get my daughter and son dressed around 6:30-7:00. I take my daughter to daycare and return home to cook breakfast around 8. After breakfast, I start schooling my son from 8:15-12:15, then I work until 5 (when its time to pick my baby girl up from daycare. From 5 on, the day seems to fly! I stay in traffic and usually return home around 5:30-5:45. I start cooking dinner at 6:15 and I need to have it on the table by 6:45 for everything else to go smooth.
The kids have to go to bed on time. The house needs to be cleaned up a little. You know how it goes.
If your schedule is anything like mine, you have little wiggle room to take too long meal planning and cooking. I typically have 30 minutes on most days (and sometimes less) to cook, and if I finish early, I have more time to relax, renew, maybe read a book, spend time with family, and take a breath.
Freezer cooking helps take a 1-2 hour cooking session and condense it down to 5-10 minutes. Freezer cooking is the method of batch compiling ingredients in containers, so on busy days, you just throw the previously organized food into the oven, crockpot, or stovetop.
On a set day (ideally with less on the schedule), you would gather your ingredients from your meal plans. You take vegetables, starches, meat, and others, then compile it into containers or freezer bags.
During a busy meal time, you only have to take the container and throw it into the crockpot, Instant Pot, or in the oven. In less than 5 minutes of prep time and some cook time, you can quickly have a healthy and tasty meal prepared. Freezer cooking enables you to:
If you’re new to freezer cooking, then you can take a few lessons from someone like Erin Chase at MyFreezeasy. Her program is awesome! I have tried both her 5dollarmealplan.com to get meal plans for my family for $5! I’ve also tried the Myfreezeasy membership.
5dollarmealplan has dinners that aren’t freezer meals, so they take a little more meal prep at each meal time. The freezer cooking (taught in Myfreezeasy) is a method of batch prepping ingredients, so you can complete your entire prep for the month in 2-4 hours! Each recipe has been very time-efficient and tasty.
If you’d like the freezer meal planning done, and sent straight to your email inbox like clockwork, I would recommend trying Myfreezeasy. They will send you the exact quantities and the grocery lists, so your budget won’t go skyrocketing. You can switch out meals easily with their downloadable phone app. It doesn’t get easier.
If you know your schedule is busy or if you know you’ll be unable to do intense meal prep at certain times. For example, if you are having a surgery, having a baby, or going thru a very busy season with working, I think it would be an ideal time to have the stress lifted and the budget maintained by having freezer meals planned.
There are other ways to gather recipes for Freezer meals as I mentioned in my article on how busy women do meal planning, but paying an affordable meal planning service like Myfreezeasy is my recommended way to complete meal planning for busy women. We already have a lot on our plates, and taking time to scour the internet, watch videos, or otherwise can be a time sucker.
For a small price, you can continue to focus your attention on the other important tasks that may make you more money or give you more peace of mind, and have the meal planning still taken care of. Having the meal planning done and a few freezer meals helps cut down on going to fast-food restaurants unplanned or eating unhealthy or high-cost pre-packaged food.
Try Myfreezeasy for freezer cooking! At least from time to time, you can have that taken off of your to-do list as a treat to yourself. You won’t regret it.
